Hollywood Casino Parking Lot Inspected by Bomb Squad After ‘Threatening' Statements Made, Police Say

A man was in custody and a bomb squad was sent to a suburban casino Tuesday afternoon after an employee said the man made statements “threatening in nature,” according to police.

The valet parking deck across the street from the Hollywood Casino in Aurora as well as adjoining businesses to the casino were being evacuated, police said. A man entered the casino around 1:30 p.m. and made statements “that the employee perceived were threatening in nature,” police said.

“As a precaution, the casino, the valet parking deck across the street and adjoining businesses to the casino are being evacuated,” Aurora police said on Facebook. “The Kane County Sheriff's Office bomb squad is in route to search the vehicle the man arrived in.”

Westbound New York Street was closed at Broadway.

Traffic is very congested downtown, police said.

Authorities were asking the public to avoid the area.
